My grid vases are a culmination of my interest in the interactions between different glazes. The grid outline creates a stained glass or landscape effect, while providing a textural contrast between the glaze and the raw black clay surface.
Thrown and trimmed on the wheel from black stoneware clay. Glazed in various overlapping glaze, then finished with a firing to cone 6 (approximately 2232 °F).
Bubble vase: 3.5” tall X 3.5” wide.
Pillar vase: 5” tall X 2.4” wide.
